John Harvey is a sound- and visual-art practitioner, and also historian of art, visual culture, and sound art. His research field is the visual and sonic culture of religion. He explores non-iconic attitudes to visualization and sonic articulations of religion within a Protestant tradition, principally. In so doing, Harvey engages visual, textual, and audible sources, theological and cultural ideas, and systemic and audiovisual processes.  Presently, he is Emeritus Professor at the School of Art, Aberystwyth University. Intersections of Sound, Image, Word, and Life provides occasional and articles on these topics, viewed independently and in conjunction with one another.
